Taking the step to begin therapy is often overwhelming and full of uncertainty. It can lead to feeling exposed and vulnerable. You may even wonder if therapy will really help. Change, however, is possible. And I can help you make that change a reality. I'm here to help you work through these challenges in a safe and empathetic environment. My goal is to support you and provide you with the tools you need to make lasting changes in your life.
I believe that each person is unique and therefore I customize my approach to each individual's specific needs. I often integrate different therapeutic techniques and modalities in order to provide the best possible care for my clients.
I have a deep understanding of trauma and tailor my treatment through a client-focused lens. This involves uncovering and understanding any self-limiting or self-destructive behaviors you may be experiencing and working through – not around –loss and grief.
I will work with you to help you understand your unique experience and how it has impacted your life. We will then work together to build on your strengths and develop new skills to help you heal and thrive.
Over the decades, my life has been touched by many of the same challenges my clients face. I understand what it’s like to feel lost, scared, and stuck. To wonder if things will ever get better. I've struggled with infertility and experienced the heartbreak of divorce and having to let go of a 30-year marriage. I have felt the isolation and self-doubt that comes with feeling that your life is being turned upside down; when you thought you had everything figured out and suddenly find yourself questioning everything you thought was true.
But I also know even in the darkest of times, there is always hope. I learned to value the blessings of adoption and birth. Through my own challenges, I learned the value of self-compassion and self-love. I found the courage to dig deep within myself and grow. I discovered that even though I couldn’t change the past, I could change how I related to it. And by making peace with my history, I was able to create a more joyful and fulfilling present.
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, it is my honor and privilege to help others do the same.
